SOUP! A Homeschool Win

Earlier this morning I posted an invitation on the socials to join us in reading the New Testament in The Bible Recap. My wife and I are on our third year through the Bible, while Mac and Liam are on their second year. It makes us happy to know that our two boys have read the entire Bible by the time they were 8 and 11 respectively. This little story just brought it home for me.

I was leading our homeschool group’s class this morning and we were playing a review game. Bible is one of the categories and while we do teach biblical principles and some scripture on community day, most of their Bible knowledge comes from what they learn in their homes and churches. I asked my question, “how did Jacob steal Essau’s birthright.” Instantly, Mac yelled “soup!” While it wasn’t the weird goat hair answer I was looking for, he wasn’t wrong. Homeschool win!

Candles?

I fell into candle making much the same as I do any other new endeavor. I like to learn how to make things that we use in our daily lives. We eat a lot of bread, so I learned how to bake. We like vegetables, so I tried to learn gardening. As it turns out, I am not a good gardener, but I did learn how to make great pickles and jams! We burn a lot of candles and I figured I could make our own cheaper and better, and if I sold enough to offset the cost of supplies and help supplement the costs of homeschooling, it would be a win-win situation.

I’m just a normal guy. I like camping, fishing, hunting, football, etc. Like many other GenXers, I’m a bit of a prepper; not a fanatic, just an enthusiast. I do not expect the world to come crashing down any minute, but I’m always wondering “what if.” We (the world) do have a way of messing up a good thing. I do know it will all end one day just as God said, but that will be a welcome new beginning, and I guess you could say I am prepped for that by accepting Jesus as my Lord and Savior.

That’s all I have to say right now. I just figured I’d explain a little how a super manly man such as myself gets into the things I do.

Leah said I need to post pictures when I update the site, so here is a random picture of us at a Braves game.

The exciting rise and fall of Pumpkin Pecan Waffle

In a few short weeks, y’all have overwhelmingly fallen in love with Pumpkin Pecan Waffle in the candles and the melts… so much so that there is really none left. We hate to tell you this, but it’s gone for now. So if you got it, treasure it. We are trying desperately to find more for you. Coming soon… Caramel Pumpkin Swirl and Spiced Cider.

Signing off… Leah
